The BCHPCA Volunteer Award in Recognition of Shara-Lee

Purpose:
This Award recognizes the outstanding personal achievements of volunteers working in Hospice Palliative Care in British Columbia. It is named in honour of Shara-Lee Coupal Franking who exemplified the generosity of spirit that is the foundation of volunteerism.

Eligibility:
Nominations are invited from BCHPCA members in either of the following two categories:

  • Volunteers who exemplify excellence in the field of Hospice Palliative Care through commitment and leadership in providing direct care to patients; or or
  • Volunteers who exemplify excellence in organizational support through fund development or Board activities or administrative duties.

The nominee’s service should have:

  • demonstrated exemplary commitment in terms of time, responsibility, and/or longevity;
  • made an impact by significantly strengthening the Hospice Palliative Care program and/or the lives of the patients and families served;
  • reflected the concept of volunteerism in its truest meaning and provided inspiration to others; and
  • enhanced the profile of Hospice Palliative Care in the community, region, or province.

Award Process

  • Submit to BCHPCA the nomination form on the next page and attach two (2) letters of support that demonstrate the nominee’s skills, talents, and accomplishments related to volunteering in Hospice Palliative Care.
  • An electronic photo will accompany the submission. This will be used for publicity purposes.

The Award is presented each year to one individual who meets the above criteria.
