Purpose

BCHPCA remains committed to advancing education, promotion, and awareness of the diverse range of services offered by Hospice Societies within our community. We are dedicated to proactively addressing the changing needs of our community regarding hospice and palliative care support. Our upcoming four-day series, "Palliative Care Awareness: Bringing Hospice and Palliative Care to Home and Community," serves as a platform to enhance advocacy skills. This event not only facilitates education and awareness but also fosters advocacy by bringing together community members, healthcare providers, health systems, and policymakers under one roof to explore opportunities and address key considerations.

BCHPCA is focused on nurturing the growth and enhancement of hospice services within our community. As societal needs continue to evolve, so too must our capacity, operational practices, and support services for hospice care.

Event Brief

Join us for our biannual 1st ever FREE Lunch and Learn Series, hosted by BCHPCA, Canadian Cancer Society and the HCABC for both members and the public, alike. For this Spring season, our series focuses on "Palliative Care Awareness: Bringing Hospice and Palliative Care to Home and Community."
In the spirit of accessibility, this event will be a FREE event to support the awareness of Hospice and Palliative Care in our sector.

Mark your calendars for March 18th, 19th, and 20th, where you can participate virtually from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm (PST). Additionally, don't miss our special in-person Panel Discussion on March 21st, 2024, taking place at The Westin Wall Centre, Vancouver Airport (3099 Corvette Way, Richmond, BC V6X 4K3).

This series promises to be beneficial for the hospice palliative care community and individuals from health authorities, ministerial staff, patients and families, charitable, non-profit, public, and private sector organizations. Whether you're a staff member, volunteer, or leader, this event will provide valuable insights and resources to support advocacy, partnership building, and government relations tailored to community needs.

We are excited to welcome distinguished speakers who will lead stimulating discussions, provide training, and offer education on how leaders and organizational teams can establish strategic advocacy relationships. Attendees can expect to gain practical knowledge on creating a diverse and inclusive environment to enhance community awareness, through advocacy.

Please note that BCHPCA is committed to becoming a more equitable and accessible organization; thus, should you need accessible and/or financial support to access any one of our events, please feel free to email us at events@bchpca.org and we will try our best to support your needs.

See you there!

The BC Hospice Palliative Care Association (BCHPCA) recognizes the traditional land of the First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples who have walked before us and minded the lands we now call home for time immemorial. Hospice Societies have been able to support, aid and care for many people on these same lands.

The BCHPCA Offices are located on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded lands of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and TsleilWaututh Nations.
