World Hospice and Palliative Care Day

Every year, the second Saturday of October marks World Hospice and Palliative Care Day (WHPCD).

This year, we come together on Saturday, October 11, 2025 under the theme:

✨ “Achieving the Promise: Universal Access to Palliative Care.” ✨

More than 60 million people worldwide need palliative care each year,  yet access remains deeply unequal. While over half of the need is met in high-income countries, only 4% of the much greater need in low- and middle-income countries is addressed.

This year’s campaign continues the call made by the World Health Assembly to strengthen palliative care as a part of comprehensive health care throughout the life course.

Together, we can work toward a future where every person, everywhere, receives the compassionate care they deserve.
